Bathroom Light Fixtures In The Modern Bathroom

There was a time when bathrooms meant a drab looking room where you spent around an hour in a day. It was a room for washing yourself and the clothes. It was small in size and had drab looking color combinations with the ubiquitous white bathtub and WC. The taps (that is what they were called!) were either made of brass or steel and were absolutely plain looking. The bathroom light fixtures meant an ordinary looking bulb emitting yellow light or maybe a white light; they were usually badly lighted and had an aura of dinginess about them. The bathroom door was always locked and guests were only shown the room if somebody needed to wash themselves. The bathroom was only meant for utility and nobody bothered about the décor.

The modern bathroom however is a totally different matter it is a style statement and like everything else in the house it reflects the personality of the owner. The house usually reflects the personality of the owner and depending upon their taste people decide on a theme for their house. It could be antique or contemporary, utilitarian or minimalist. Keeping in tune with the theme of the house the bathrooms also reflect the taste of the owner, and no longer is the lighting drab rather the bathroom light fixtures match with the general theme of the bathroom. At times we have minimalist bathroom light fixtures or even vanity light fixtures fitted in the bathroom.

If you are planning a new look for your bathroom here are a few themes that you could opt for and remember to keep the bathroom lighting fixtures in tune with the rest of the look. It could be a light hanging from the ceiling or it could even be bathroom wall light fixtures, whatever the type of bathroom light fixtures you use it should be in sync with the theme.

You could re-do your bathroom by painting the bathroom walls in a dark colour. A perfect shade would be dark blue. Keep the ceiling of the bathroom white so that the bathroom does not look overtly dark. Think about the shower unit and the WC keep them coordinated, they should preferably be white or a lighter shade of blue. The tiles could have a light floral print in light blue and white. Don’t think about compromising on the bathroom light fixtures. Select an attractive bathroom light fixture to hang from the ceiling of the bathroom.

Another great theme would be a bathroom that has a feminine touch. Paint the walls the shade of tiffany blue and keep the ceiling white to maintain the feminine aura of the bathroom. White colored tiles or tiles with tiny flowers would just be perfect for this kind of a bathroom. Choose some soft white or blue mats to place near the sink and the bathtub. You could reflect you personality when you choose some of the bathroom fixtures.

Select the ones that suit your personality. You could opt for a very modern type of faucet and shower sets or if its period items that you fancy go right ahead and order them. Don’t ever hesitate in showing up the true you. Fill up the bathroom cabinets with some pretty knick knacks and invest in good shampoos and soaps with coordinated towels after all it is your domain a bathroom that reflects you.

With a little imagination your bathroom could be one of the best rooms in the house. Use some innovative ideas, check home décor catalogues, visit online home stores or even refer to a magazine on interior decoration. Do plenty of research work; look up all the products available in the market. Then decide how you want the bathroom to be. Remember if you put in a little effort the drab little room in your house could be just the room where you will love to unwind after a hard day’s work.
